Position Status: Full Time (40 hrs week) 

Job Summary:

  • Meet assigned sales goals through outbound and inbound efforts
  • Increase repeat buying customer base
  • Work within company process and systems
  • Build trust with all (win-win)
  • Work personal sales plan strategies
  • Actively seeks and identifies leads using the internet, referrals, industry articles, lead services, associations, etc.
  • Maintains a relationship and contact with all customers at a minimum every six months.
  • Respond quickly to inbound inquiries.
  • Performs proactive, outbound sales activities such as; post-sales customer follow-up and promotional campaigns to existing customers, prospects and leads
  • Negotiates and closes sales
  • Builds strong relationships, nurtures and grows the existing customer base.
  • Maintain lead and customer data/records including updating all activities, contacts, and correspondence within the CRM system.
  • Proactively stays on top of changes in industries and products
  • Participates in sales meetings
  • Coordinates with marketing and other department needs in support of sales.
  • Responsible for all counter sales.
  • Responsible for inventory control.

Essential Functions:

  • Help with shipping and receiving when needed to get orders out in a timely manner
  • Coordinate with shipping and receiving for local deliveries
  • Responsible for warehouse organization and will include forklift operation.
  • Keep the store and retail area stocked and well organized and clean
  • Responsible for telephone marketing to increase walk-in customers and call for delivery needs.
  • Remain current on industry trends, market activities and competitors through research, trade magazines, trade organizations, social networking and other resources.
  • Assist in properly receiving all incoming supplies and equipment.
  • Assist in keeping stock equipment in an organized manner
  • Prospect for new accounts as well as provide technical support for existing accounts
  • Contact new customers and existing accounts to help promote BIM layout hardware and software solutions.
  • Work independently to learn products and manage customer relationships.
  • Drive sales by informing customers on latest hardware, software, solutions and services.
  • Conduct sales calls and demonstrations with customers to help close new orders and maintain customer relationships.
  • Maintain a high degree of technical knowledge through attendance at regularly scheduled training classes.
  • Document activities in customer relationship management software to improve communication and client satisfaction.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

 

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Prior Field Layout Construction, Land Surveying, civil engineering or mapping experience.
  • Road building, Civil Engineering, Land Surveying, or Site Layout experience.
  • Field Layout Construction, Land Surveying, civil engineering or mapping experience.
  • Strong technical aptitude with problem-solving skills.
  • High energy level with the ability to travel as needed.
  • Confident and proficient communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently to develop client relationships.
  • Positive attitude and a strong desire to succeed.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and enjoy working in the field.
  • Comprehension of construction or surveying industries preferred
  • Solid leadership skills.
  • Positive attitude and a passion to solve issues for existing and new customers
  • Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills
  • Computer proficiency - knowledge of MS Office (minimum includes: Outlook, Word, Excel, &PowerPoint) and Windows Mobile Strong computer software skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, proficient presentation skills and comfortable giving presentations to senior management.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and maintain calm efficiency
  • Vigorous work ethic and self-motivation (self-starter, self-learner).
  • Excellent organization, prioritization, and time-management skills to manage, schedule and travel within territory.
  • Must have a clean driving record.

 

Additional Level Requirements

  • Heavy machinery automation operation or management prior technical sales experience
  • Civil Engineering, Building Science, Land Surveying or Construction Degree
  • Proficient in CAD or Estimating Software
  • Proficient with GPS Hardware & Total Stations & Data Collection.
  • Prior technical sales experience
  • Experience with NetSuite Software is a bonus

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  1. Sufficient computer skills to utilize Empire’s internal and external software programs.
  2. Must have interpersonal skills sufficient to work cooperatively with people and assist in executing sales transactions.
  3. Must have working knowledge of Caterpillar and competitive construction equipment model designations and application.
  4. Must comprehend equipment specifications, price lists, catalogs and common industry publications and reference material.
  5. Must have effective, pleasant verbal communication skills, and willing to work in a team environment.
  6. Must perform common sales calculations quickly and accurately, and be familiar with financing, taxes, etc., of all products Empire and Caterpillar sells.
  7. Must have ability to develop working knowledge of wholesale and retail used equipment markets.
  8. Must have ability to develop an in-depth knowledge of entire Caterpillar product line and applications.
  9. Must have ability to develop an in-depth knowledge of Sales Dept. policies and procedures.
  10. Must have ability to develop an in-depth knowledge of EMPIRE’s operating department’s functions.
  11. Must have ability to develop and in-depth experience in capital sales.
  12. Must have ability to develop the mechanical aptitude sufficient to relate to mechanical applications and failures.
  13. Must be able to meet all safety requirements for applicable safety policies and use of all required safety equipment.
  14. Must have acceptable attendance to meet all company standards and requirements.

Education and Experience:

  1. Proof of high school diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
  2. 4 year college degree preferred, 2 year college degree required.
  3. Minimum 2 years Caterpillar Dealer experience.
  4. Used Heavy Equipment Sales experience.
  5. Experience in Caterpillar Sales/Service Department a plus.
  6. Must be able to communicate (speak, read, comprehend, write) in English.
