Job Summary


The primary responsibility of the Applied Forensic Expert is to assist the Geospatial Business Area in bringing Forensic technologies to market.  By coupling his/her solid understanding of the technology and the application of the technology to the Forensic domain, the AFE is able to “make Forensic solutions, (Primarily Trimble branded solutions), sing” and influence customers to invest and engage in selling these products. 

Reporting to the Geospatial Sales Manager and as part of the Geospatial sales team, the AFE executes the business area and divisional “go to market” strategy for Forensics within a defined region by providing sales, marketing and support. The AFE will generate interest through sales initiatives and perform demonstrations for end-users to support sales.  The AFE represents the highest level of technical knowledge available in the sales organization.  His/her mission is to show the end user how the newest technologies can be applied to solve real world Forensic challenges and needs. 

Essential Functions

The AFE will report to the Geospatial Sales Manager and will work with the Geospatial Sales Team.  Typically he/she will collaborate and support 4-5 Geospatial partners, however responsibilities may be expanded.  The AFE will focus on total solutions for the Forensics Business Area.

First and foremost, the AFE supports the business area and channel team to facilitate the sales of technology solutions in order to achieve quarterly revenue targets for the business area.

Longer term activities are built around execution of a defined “go to market strategy” as defined by management and the Geospatial Sales Manager.  This includes, but is not limited to training, end user demonstrations (typically with dealer involvement and support), and participation in local events such as trade shows, road shows, and user group meetings. 

Additional Responsibilities

  1. Assist in achievement of overall revenue targets for the business area
  2. Promote Trimble product sales to include:
  3. Assistance in key customer demonstrations and presentations
  4. Participation and assistance in trade shows, road shows and user group events
  5. Develop sales and technical support competency to demonstrate, sell and support new technology products. This include providing informal training on products, technology and application of technology.
  6. Assistance in preparation of tender documents and specifications
  7. Recommendations as needed on product configurations, part numbers, and options as required to suit customer needs and applications.
  8. Maintain up-to-date skills and knowledge on the latest Forensic technology; proactively seek out training to ensure “early adapter” knowledge.
  9. Be current on competitor manufacturer product offerings (features, benefits and customer interest in these products) in the region, report information internally together with recommendations as required.
  10. Respond to escalated technical issues from dealers about key or priority customers to ensure sales closure.
  11. Complete monthly activity reports in accordance with defined template and quality expectations.

  1. High level technical expertise with the latest Survey products and solutions and related surveying applications.
  2. Problem-solving ability
  3. Ability to work autonomously and follow-through with plans.
  4. Ability and motivation to quickly learn and integrate new technologies help bring them to market.
  5. Strong presentation skills (for both sales & training)
  6. Strong interpersonal skills


  1. Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice or Business or equivalent education and experience required is a plus.
  2. 2 year college degree in Criminal Justice or a degree in business with a demonstrated ability to learn and apply technology is a plus.
  3. Law Enforcement basic training
  4. Accident investigation training
  5. Crime scene investigation training
  6. Advanced accident reconstruction training
  7. Advanced crime scene reconstruction training


  1. 5 years professional experience in law enforcement (previous or current commissioned officer)
  2. 5 years professional experience in accident reconstruction
  3. Accreditation Commission for Traffic Accident Reconstruction Commission (ACTAR) is a plus
  4. 100+ Traffic Investigations/Reconstructions including fatalities
  5. 50+ Crime Scene Investigations/Reconstructions including fatalities
