Job Summary

Repair and/or rebuild structurally failed or worn parts requiring welding process reconstruction.  Work in adverse weather and other adverse shop and field situations presented by customer needs.  Accept all out of town assignments requiring overnight stays.  Communicate orally and in writing information, instructions, and explanations to associates, customers, and management regarding conditions, problems, and recommendations.

Essential Functions & Additional Responsibilities

  1. Fabricate and/or repair metal parts.
  2. Comprehend and interpret sketches and diagrams.
  3. Operate welding equipment.
  4. Prepare service reports.
  5. Plan and control cost of repair jobs.
  6. Maintain company equipment – keep in good clean orderly condition.
  7. Work safely at all times.  Adhere to all applicable safety policies.  Comply with all company policies, procedures and standards.
  8. Own and maintain required personal tools.
  9. Learn and use Empire, Caterpillar and allied product procedures and systems.
  10. Perform other related duties as assigned.
  11. Maintain current MSHA card if work area requires.
  12. Provide on-the-job training to technicians and helpers as assigned.
  13. Work overtime as needed.
  14. Travel to remote locations as needed.
  15. Communicate with proper individuals to clarify instructions or discuss scope or progress of job.
  16. Must accomplish training and serve as a Green Belt in support of EMPIRE's Six Sigma program.
  17. Work within and promote corporate values.

Additional Requirements

  • Basic knowledge of heat stresses in metal
  • Know proper use of cleaners and solvents

Skills & Abilities

Able to read and correctly interpret diagrams & blueprints

Acceptable attendance to meet all company standards and requirements.

Appropriate manner, conduct and grooming to adhere to company policy.

Must have interpersonal skills and mechanical aptitude skills.

Perform complex and innovative welding procedures
