Position Status: Full Time (40 hrs week) 

Job Summary:

This role requires an in-depth understanding of electrical power generation design, installation, operation and maintenance.  This includes all equipment that Empire may interface with, not limited to, but including; electrical products, transformers, switchgear, automatic transfer switches, electrical conduit and cabling, remote monitoring systems, exhaust flow and restrictions, cooling mediums and principles, HVAC systems and CAT complete system integration.

Essential Functions:

  1. Provide detailed and engineered CAD drawings of equipment and project layouts.
  2. Design, interpret and influence electrical systems to be used in various installations, all to NEC, local and consulting engineering specifications.
  3. Maintain a current knowledge of products to be used in various projects, as well as their compatability with CAT and other vendor warranties.
  4. Provide various engineered solutions specific to our unique ambient conditions.  This may include airflow, thermaldynamics, and acoustic solutions. 
  5. Work safely at all times.  Adhere to all applicable safety policies.  Comply with all company policies, procedures and standards.

Additional Responsibilities:

1. Must be willing to travel to jobsite or engineering locations to assist with technical information.
2. Must be willing to remain flexible with varied workload and priorities.    
3. Work within and promote corporate values.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  1. Knowledge of and ability to use various CAD design programs.
  2. Extensive electrical system design, integration and operation knowledge and ability.
  3. Knowledge of NEC, NFPA 110, state and local electrical code compliance.
  4. Knowledge of CAT EPG systems design, integration and installation analysis.
  5. Knowledge of Thermal, Acoustical and Fluid dynamics.
  6. Knowledge of HVAC System design, engineering and operation.
  7. Knowledge of cogeneration plant design, compatability, and system financial modeling.
  8. Knowledge of Modbus communications  for various engineered solutions.
  9. Must be able to meet all safety requirements for applicable safety policies and use of all required safety equipment.
  10. Must have acceptable attendance to meet all company standards and requirements.

Education and Experience:

  1. Must have a minimum of 3 years’ experience with designing CAT EPG systems including generators, switchgear, ATS's, UPS systems and loadbanks.
  2. Must have a Bachelor’s of Science in Electrical, Mechanical Engineering or related field (or work experience equivelant).
  3. Minimum 3 years of experience with CAT software programs such as TMI, SpecSizer, CSQ, and Power Net.
  4. Minimum of 3 years of experience with CAD modeling software including but not limited to AutoCAD Electrical, AutoCAD Mechanical, Inventor, Revit, and Solidworks.
  5. Must be able to communicate (speak, read, comprehend, write) in English.
