Position Status: Full Time (40 hrs week) 

Job Summary:

Evaluates and tests new or modified software programs to verify that programs function according to user requirements and conform to established standards and guidelines.  Writes, revises, and verifies quality standards and test procedures to attain quality of software efficiency and functionality.  Serves as the initial client support resource for all support issues referred to the development team(s).

Essential Functions:

  1. Tests computer programs for validity of results, accuracy, reliability, and conformance to established standards.
  2. Executes smoke, regression, compatibility and other appropriate test scenarios as required by development scope.
  3. Develops data queries to assist with diagnosing system issues and errors.
  4. Proactively reviews computer logs to identify program processing errors.
  5. Documents and communicates all known application issues.
  6. Prioritizes and escalates support and QA issues appropriately.
  7. Maintains knowledge of systems functionality at a level required to execute assignments effectively.
  8. Recommends program improvements or corrections to programmers.
  9. Responds to client complaints and help desk tickets related to application issues and errors.
  10. Sets up tests at request of clients to diagnose application errors.
  11. Trains clients in application execution and functionality.
  12. Work safely at all times.  Adhere to all applicable safety policies.  Comply with all company policies, procedures and standards.

  1. Completes assignments within deadlines and budgets.
  2. Maintains a sense of urgency in completing assigned tasks.
  3. Provides routine stakeholder updates on assignment progress.
  4. Works within and promotes corporate values.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  1. Understands the processes and procedures of multiple major EMPIRE operational areas, or strong business acumen.
  2. Understands the key operational objectives and critical success factors of the business.
  3. Excellent interpersonal/communications skills and comfortable interacting with users at all levels.
  4. Ability to travel in fulfillment of project and training requirements.

Education and Experience:

  1. Bachelor degree in information systems or equivalent experience.
  2. Minimum 3 years experience in software testing, test planning, and test case creation, or user software support.
  3. Experience with writing data queries using Structured Query Language (SQL).
  4. Proficiency in MS Windows, MS Office and mobile devices.
  5. Preferred experience with automated testing tools.
  6. Current driver’s license.
  7. Must be able to communicate (speak, read, comprehend, write) in English.
