Metal Spray Technician - 25828

Job Summary:

Perform multiple tasks including masking, cleaning, grit blasting, glass bead cleaning, and thermal spray operations under limited supervision.  Will be required to program and operate an ABB robot to apply thermal spray coatings for salvage and repair or restoration of worn components utilizing twin wire arc, combustion flame, or HVOF processes.

Essential Functions:

1. Perform thermal spray operations utilizing the Metco Process
2. Perform masking operations and fabricate masking shields
3. Perform basic measuring operations
4. Insure proper coating thickness for minimal machining
5. Maintain knowledge of coatings and their application
6. Properly prepare, mask and apply metal spray coatings to rebuild parts
7. Work safely at all times.  Adhere to all applicable safety policies.  Comply with all company policies, procedures, and standards.

Additional Responsibilities:

1. Prepare parts for coating 
2. Operate band saw, belt sander, grinder, glass bead grit blaster and other shop equipment
3. Maintain records, provide data and submit reports
4. Avoid premature failures and rework by providing quality workmanship
5. Meet or exceed work standards
6. Own and maintain required personal tooling.
7. Work within and promote corporate values.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

1. Must have sufficient mechanical aptitude to develop equipment operating and troubleshooting skills
2. Must be a motivated self-starter
3. Must have interpersonal skills sufficient to assist customers and employees in a professional manor
4. Must be able to work in a high visual concentration environment
5. Must be able to work with various powders and chemicals
6. Ability to maintain consistent attendance.

Education and Experience:

1. Proof of high school diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
2. Prefer previous knowledge of metal spray techniques
3. Prefer previous machine shop experience
4. Must be able to communicate (speak, read, comprehend, write) in English.
