Position Status: Full Time (40 hrs week) 

Job Summary:

Essential responsibilities are to maintain accurate inventory count, purchase shop supplies, package and ship parts up to fifty pounds, review and bill work orders, and provide office support.


Experience in purchasing and receipt of machine shop supplies and inventory is highly desirable. Ideal candidate will have working knowledge of machine shop processes and tooling. This role requires proficiency in utilizing multiple software systems and a minimum typing speed of 50 words per minute. Candidate must be a self-starter with great attention to detail.

Essential Functions:

  1. Purchase competitively priced shop supplies/tooling need for the shop.
  2. Maintain a inventory to meet established guidelines.
  3. Ensure technician’s time is entered correctly and all overtime is correctly indicated.
  4. Billing of work orders in a timely manner
  5. Receive and stock all UPS receivables on a daily basis and in a timely manner. Update Procureit and manage filing of packing slips.
  6. Facilitate and maintain MSC cabinet
  7. Daily mail run to Office Services
  8. Update safety score card daily
  9. Perform bi-weekly audits on the parts inventory for department.
  10. Review WIP on a daily basis to make sure that all red WIP is kept to a minimum and update SPI notes accordingly.
  11. Perform initial review of work orders, process or return to service planner for resolution.
  12. Perform filing, scanning and uploading into SPI.
  13. Work safely at all times.  Adhere to all applicable safety policies.  Comply with all company policies, procedures and standards.

Additional Responsibilities:

  1. Provide office and phone coverage when necessary.
  2. Assist with forklift duties as needed
  3. Assist with packing and shipping out P & H parts orders.
  4. Maintain and update vendor listing for inventory material
  5. Change locks on monthly basis and inspect fire extinguishers monthly
  6. Greet visitors and direct them to the proper area
  7. Maintain office supplies
  8. Must accomplish training and serve as a Green Belt in support of Empire's Six Sigma program.
  9. Work within and promote corporate values.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  1. Must have basic math skills sufficient to effectively perform job duties
  2. Interpersonal and communication skills to interact with customers and other employees positively and professionally.
  3. Consistent attendance is required
  4. Excellent organization skills are required to complete assignments
  5. Must be able to compose written communication with proper grammar and spelling
  6. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and Empire corporate software
  7. Must be able to meet all safety requirements for applicable safety policies and use of all required safety equipment.
  8. Must have acceptable attendance to meet all company standards and requirements.

Education and Experience:

  1. Proof of high school diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
  2. Experience in operating personal computer and use of multiple software applications; word-processing, spreadsheet, with preference for Microsoft Office Products.
  3. Must be able to communicate (speak, read, comprehend, write) in English.
