Position Status: Full Time (40 hrs week) 

Job Summary:

Manage one or more Accounting function which may include General Accounting, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and Office Services. Develop and implement systems for collecting, analyzing, verifying, and reporting financial information; manage accounting staff; manage client and vendor interaction.

Essential Functions:

  1. Manages assigned functional areas in the Accounting department. 
  2. Motivates and monitors staff to complete accounting transactions and related operational tasks accurately and efficiently. 
  3. Supports general Accounting functions.
  4. Manages internal and external account reconciliations.
  5. Prepares standard journal entries.
  6. Coordinates and manages month-end closings. Meets month end closing requirements.
  7. Prepares accurate and timely management reports.
  8. Establishes staff training and cross training programs. 
  9. Manages client and vender relationships.  
  10. Supervises application of payments received.  Ensures accuracy and timeliness.  
  11. Performs internal and external account reconciliations,
  12. Completes year end close and annual financial audit schedules as assigned.
  13. Works safely at all times.  Adheres to all applicable safety policies.  Complies with all company policies, procedures, and standards.

Additional Responsibilities:

  1. Assists and advises in training and maintaining DBS/EMS equipment system.
  2. Assists with annual audits and audit schedules.
  3. Interacts with other EMPIRE departments and subsidiaries.  Works to resolve problems to the satisfaction of all parties.
  4. Identifies potential problems and recommends corrective action. Supports policies and procedures.  Recommends changes when appropriate to achieve a high performance level for the department.
  5. Manages Purchase Card program.
  6. Performs payment application as needed.
  7. Works within and promotes corporate values.

Additional Level Requirements

Accounting Manager II - Minimum 4 yrs Accounting and supervisory experience

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  1. Interpersonal skills sufficient to effectively and professionally work with clients, vendors, staff and management.
  2. Organizational skills sufficient to plan and execute accounting processes.
  3. General accounting knowledge and experience.  
  4. Advanced PC and Microsoft Excel skills.
  5. Basic Accounting Systems knowledge.
  6. Ability to maintain consistent attendance

Education and Experience:

  1. Proof of high school diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
  2. Minimum 2 years college accounting or related experience.
  3. Minimum 3 years accounting experience.
  4. Minimum 2 years supervisory experience in accounting role which may include General Accounting, Accounts Payable, or Accounts Receivable.
  5. Must be able to communicate (speak, read, comprehend, write) in English.
