Position Status: Full Time (40 hrs week) 

Job Summary:

The Field Solutions salesperson is a member of the BuildingPoint West team covering a to be determined region within Texas based out of Dallas / Fort Worth.

This position combines technical knowledge with sales skills to result in an aggressive growth of Trimble’s Field Solutions product portfolio by systematically increasing the number of customer demonstrations and product sales. This person will be required to make a minimum of 10 outbound cold calls per week and have at least one on-site demo per week to a prospect. This person will have the industry knowledge, use case knowledge and technical knowledge skills all-the-while having a positive attitude to perform high quality demonstrations for all Trimble Layout, Scanning, Personnel Management and related Field Solutions software products. This position will report to the General Manager.

Essential Functions:

  1. Searching for and establishing new clients who could benefit from BuildingPoint products or services and maximizing customer potential in designated regions.
  2. Fully prospecting all commercial (public and private) as well as residential construction projects within their sales territory.
  3. Developing new and maintaining existing long-term relationships with customers
  4. Making technical presentations and demonstrations that persuade clients our product or service will best satisfy their needs in terms of return on investment, quality, price and delivery.
  5. Creating and maintaining demo script and checklist for all building construction products
  6. Training customers on our product(s) functionality and usability
  7. Developing customer proposals as well as negotiating and closing sales by setting/agreeing on terms and conditions
  8. Offering post-sales support services
  9. Updating & maintaining customer contact data in company CRM software
  10. Preparing reports for sales management
  11. Supporting marketing activities by attending trade shows, road shows, conferences and other marketing events as required
  12. Liaising with other members of the sales team and other technical experts within the company
  13. Present a professional and positive company image at all times that model the company values
  14. Be customer facing and active in the field up to 80% of the time

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  1. Knowledge of the construction industry
  2. Must be technically minded, fascinated by technology
  3. Contacts and relationships within the concrete and or General Contractor industry
  4. Attitude: “Can do” attitude, with a proactive approach to customer relationship development and prospecting
  5. Strong knowledge of targeted customer prospects and applications for Field Solutions (General contractors, construction managers, concrete contractors, structural steel contractors, interior finishing contractors: Operations, project management, supervisors, equipment managers, layout/survey crews etc.)
  6. Time and territory management skills
  7. Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  8. Technical competency with construction positioning, layout, asset management, paper to digital field solutions for QA/QC etc., and multiple software platforms after initial trainings
  9. Skilled computer and MS Office user
  10. Basic CAD / Revit skills
  11. Strong understanding of design software platforms
  12. Work safely at all times.  Adhere to all applicable safety policies.  Comply with all company policies, procedures and standards.
  13. Travel may be required with overnight stays

Education and Experience:

  1. 5 or more years of experience in construction or related industry. Preferably in the GC, Concrete, Mechanical, Electrical or Plumbing industry.
  2. Mechanical and educational aptitude to maintain and improve understanding of the application and products targeted at construction positioning, layout, asset management, paper to digital field solutions for QA/QC etc.
  3. Must be able to communicate (speak, read, comprehend, write) in English, multi lingual (Spanish) a plus.
  4. Proof of at least a High School or GED

  1. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to lift, carry and haul at least 30 lbs for sometimes long distances on construction sites.
  2. The employee frequently is required to call on and visit construction sites, must be able to comfortably walk and safely maintain themselves on an active construction site, sometimes using ladders.
  3. The employee is required to drive within the given territory, sometimes 8 hours.
